Alisdair Wilson, FM Consultant with Emrill, the leading Facilities Management Company in the UAE, will lead a focused Retail City Conference Workshop on September 28 which will allow delegates into understanding the needs to implement an effective and cost efficient mall management strategy.
The half-day workshop at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre is expected to be attended by senior management officials from malls and retail establishments. Emrill is privileged to be the only facilities management company to have been invited by Cityscape to present at the Retail City Conference.
“It is never too late to involve Integrated Facilities Management professionals in reviewing all aspects of a Mall’s operation, and while there may be challenges from an existing building envelope and structure, older Malls offer much scope for a fresh look. Given a third of a building’s operating cost is typically utilities, that is the obvious place to start,” said Mr Wilson.
Wilson has been in the UAE for four years, during which time he has worked both contractor and client side, as an operator and as a consultant. His introduction to the Middle East was as the first facilities management General Manager for Dubai Festival City. He also managed operations at Souk al Bahar, including its involvement on the night of the Burj Khalifa opening, and was instrumental in planning the FM function for Bawabat al Sharq Mall, Abu Dhabi.
Mr. Wilson specialises in strategy, analysing the specific requirements of a Mall and translating these into operational plans aligned to the investor’s interests and, vitally, the end user experience. His approach is to overlay best practice facilities management processes with the individual requirements of a specific location, creating a combination that results in a bespoke solution.
