As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment, Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) is supporting the Holy Quran Memorisation Competition 2014 organised by the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU).
The event was held from April 14 till 27, 2014 with participants from across the region. The winners were honoured at an award ceremony that was held at Dubai Holy Quran Award Centre, Al Mamzar.
ENOC has been partnering with SMCCU for several years now, supporting its diverse activities aimed at highlighting the cultural identity and traditional values of the UAE.
Noaman Al Saleh, PR & CSR Manager, ENOC, said: “The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding undertakes several initiatives that reflect the Emirati identity and add to our civic pride. The focus of the Centre has been to promote intercultural dialogue and build solidarity and social cohesion. The Holy Quran Memorisation Competition is a key initiative of the Centre and we are honoured to support it as part of our CSR commitment to partner with events that add value to the society.”
Over the years, ENOC has demonstrated its thought leadership in undertaking innovative CSR initiatives and has won Asia’s top laurel for Best Corporate Social Responsibility Practices at the Asian Leadership Awards and The Bizz Award.
ENOC undertakes various activities during the Holy Month of Ramadan to support the community. Emirates Gas, a subsidiary of ENOC, has joined hands with Dar Al Ber Society to provide 300 disadvantaged families in the UAE with free LPG refill.
Most recently, ENOC has launched its ‘Human Fuel’ campaign in partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and Dubai Charity Association, to raise funds to support the two entities to address global hunger. A contribution of one dirham can make a huge difference to the lives of the hungry, as the amount can feed a child for an entire day.
