Khalaf Al Habtoor, the Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group, received the Belarusian Ambassador Aleksander Semeshko on March 21, 2012 to discuss business opportunities in Belarus.
Igor Bondarev, the Counsellor at the Belarus Embassy, also attended the meeting, which was held at the Al Habtoor Group head office on Al Wasl road, Dubai and instigated by Semeshko.
The ambassador arrived with a letter from the Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Miasnikovich who visited the UAE last month. The document contained suggestions about ways in which the Al Habtoor Group and the Belarusian government could work together on development projects in Minsk.
This was the main topic of conversation between Semeshko and Al Habtoor. The latter expressed his company’s interest in particular in infrastructure projects, stating that he intends to send a team of experts from different divisions in the Al Habtoor Group to study the viability of such projects.
Also present at the meeting were Mohammed Al Habtoor, the Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of the Al Habtoor Group, Sultan Al Habtoor, President of Al Habtoor Motors, Paul Raynor, Senior Advisor to Khalaf Al Habtoor and Noura Badawi Director of Media and Communications at the Al Habtoor Group.
The letter from the Belarusian Prime Minister also contained a personal invitation to Al Habtoor to visit Minsk.
Al Habtoor said he would be delighted to take up the offer. “I have heard it is a beautiful country,” he commented. “I would very much like to experience it for myself.”
