Mashreq, a leading financial institution in the UAE, launched an app earlier this March, which has significantly increased audience participation and engagement of their social media channels. The ‘Find the Futebol’ app, catering to football lovers in the region, not only engages fans, but also educates them on the limited edition 2014 FIFA World CupTM Mashreq Visa Card.

The app involves hiding five footballs across Mashreq’s digital platforms over a four week period. The fans then have to watch out for clues to find the footballs that are hidden on Mashreq’s Twitter and Facebook pages, as well as the FIFA microsite webpages. Running till the 15th of April, the campaign has already created Mashreq’s social channels to rise dramatically, leading to what is now the 2nd highest fan base on Facebook and 3rd highest fan base on LinkedIn in the UAE.
