Building on Samsung’s innovative Smart TV experience, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and convergence technologies, today announced the NewsON panel, which delivers easy access to timely news information and content straight to Samsung Smart TVs. With a click of a remote, users have immediate access – even in low bandwidth environments– to the day’s most popular reports, ensuring Samsung TV consumers are well informed and equipped for the day.
NewsON is available for free to Samsung Smart TV owners via the Samsung Smart Hub. The new feature offers a snapshot of the latest news and weather from Yahoo, the first partner on NewsON panel, in Arabic on the main page, and allows users to click through to see story summaries, full articles or streaming news video clips. The interactive interface provides the most important local stories as well as weather reports for all the main cities in the UAE. News and weather information is periodically updated with a dynamic user interface, so that Samsung Smart TV owners can always be informed with the latest.
“We are excited to bring the NewsOn panel and make it available for our Smart TV consumers, offering them more local content from our Smart Hub. Since launching our Samsung Smart TV range in 2010, we have been developing new ways to offer high quality local content and applications that can make users’ lives easier and more enjoyable,” said Mr. Vinod Nair, General Manager, CTV Business, Samsung Gulf Electronics.
NewsON gives users a more connected life by providing readily accessible and relevant local content. The new feature is part of Samsung’s commitment to expanding the TV experience beyond simply watching television and movies to bringing knowledge, news and the most immersive entertainment experience to everyone, everywhere.
The NewsON panel is available on the Smart TV 2013 lineup and the 2012 models that are upgraded using the Samsung Evolution Kit.
