Training and Education institutes in Bahrain will continue to receive a boost with the forthcoming launch of the second phase of Tamkeen’s Training and Education Performance Support programme. The programme, delivers sector-specific support services to enhance the performance of enterprises.
The programme enables educational and training institutions in Bahrain to implement international best practices and enhance the technical and management skills of Bahraini employees engaged in various occupations in this sector. At the same time, the programme enables these institutions to elevate the level they provide to up-skill the Bahraini workforce and make Bahrainis the first choice for employment.
The specialised training offered through the programme will be delivered through five world-renowned partners selected by Tamkeen, and they are TRIBAL, International Development Ireland Ltd. (IDI), Skill Factor Consultants (SFC), Partners Conference & Event Management Pte Ltd, and ABDI Ltd.
Third Wave International (TWI) has also been selected to provide comprehensive events management solutions for the second phase of the programme, which will consist of 30 workshops targeting 500 employees in the training and education sector. The programmes will commence in November 2012 and is expected to continue up to June 2014.
“The launch of the second phase of the Training and Education Performance Support programme represents a further extension of Tamkeen’s strong support to ensure that the skills of Bahraini workers are compatible with the myriad of challenges presented by the modern-day working environment,” Tamkeen’s Chief Executive Mahmood Hashem Al Kooheji said. He also added: “Investing in the enhancement of education and training institutes is a vital and pressing need in this regard, as these organisations play a major role in transforming an individual into a skilled professional who can thrive in any sphere or field.”
Over the first phase of the programme, 24 workshops were held which benefited 315 trainees. The programme is one of 180 programmes created by Tamkeen to date, which have benefited 53,000 Bahrainis and enterprises to date.
“TWI is excited to partner with Tamkeen and collaborate with a team of talented trainers of international repute and deliver these programmes and be part of an initiative of national significance in contributing toward the development of the skills of the Kingdom’s workforce,” Third Wave International CEO Dilip de S Wijeyeratne said. “Leveraging the experience of the training partners who have been chosen and building on the success of the first phase of this valuable initiative, we look forward to building on that momentum to deliver strong and sustainable results.”
