The University of Dubai (UD) signed an agreement recently with the Financial Audit Department (FAD) of the Dubai Government. The agreement, signed by His Excellency Dr. Eesa Bastaki, University of Dubai President, and His Excellency Yaser Abdullah Amiri, Financial Audit Department Director General, will provide opportunities for the two organizations to collaborate in the areas of education, internship and job placements, consultancy, research and joint seminars and conferences.
Speaking about the agreement, Dr. Bastaki said, “This kind of collaboration is not only beneficial to both organizations but also serves the overall vision of the UAE. The FAD will receive access to a bright workforce from our pool of graduates and our graduates will receive gainful employment in positions extremely important to the development of the country’s economy. The FAD is vital in promoting a sturdy financial system in which companies are confident to invest and we are honored to be able to contribute to this very important cause.”
In the memorandum, the University of Dubai agreed to offer partial scholarships to FAD employees on academic programs through its two Colleges - Business Administration and Information Technology - and also on executive development programs and professional certifications through its Center for Executive Development (CED). The two organizations also agreed to collaborate on joint professional programs in which both UD’s qualified faculty and the FAD’s senior personnel will aid in delivering professional qualifications. FAD employees will be able to attend workshops, seminars and forums the Financial Audit Department will be invited to attend job fairs, giving the department access to a pool of qualified students, graduates and alumni for employment and internship opportunities. The university also agreed to provide FAD with a research and consultancy report based on in-depth scientific and economic analysis.
HE Yaser Abdullah Amiri affirmed that the agreement supports FAD’s strategic plan to continually improve the efficiency of its employees through investment in human resources. Mr. Amiri said, “Signing this memorandum supports the objective of our department to utilize all expertise in our field. The exchange and transference of experience, whether on the level of local or international sources, is extremely important to the development of our employees to continue being pioneers of the future. As per directions of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum - Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai - the best investment one can make is an investment in Human Resources; it is the duty for each person to improve oneself and not limit one’s excellency and creativity.”
In the larger scope, the university and FAD will work jointly on research and consultancy projects related to the Dubai economy that will aim to benefit the people of Dubai and the UAE as a whole. Through collaborations like this, between the education sector and business sectors, both public and private, the exchange of ideas and knowledge will contribute to fuel innovation and continue the UAE’s progression toward a prosperous and bright future.
