The Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani recently inaugurated the new factory of the Qatari Vinyl Limited Company in the Mesaied Industrial Estate, reported Al-Hayat daily.
The Qatari minister of energy and industry, Abdullah Attiya, estimated the costs of the project at $680 million. Once operations begin, the plant will produce 220,000 tons of vinyl annually.
Major investors in the new company are the Qatar Petroleum Company, which put in 25.5 percent, the Qatar Petrochemicals Company, with 13.9 percent of the investment, the Norwegian Norsk Hydro Company at 29.7 percent and the French Total Fina Company, putting in 12.9 percent in investment funding. ― (MENA Report)
