The Saudi Ministry of Finance has announced the volume of construction projects accomplished since the beginning of 2005 and until the end of the third quarter of the year amounted to $5.4 billion, reported Al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper.
The number of requests approved by the ministry during the above mentioned period increased by 16% to hit 1,362 contracts, in addition to 31% increase in the value of these contracts.
The municipal and rural projects took 363 contracts out of the total by value of SR 2.2 billion, road and transportation projects accounted for 186 contracts by the total value of SR 6.4 billion, construction of schools and education facilities got 466 contracts by value of SR 466 million. As for hospital and medical facilities projects they boasted 38 contracts by a total valued of more than SR 608 million, while water, dams and sewage water projects formed 134 contracts by the value of SR 2.7 billion. Projects of other sectors numbered 175 contracts by the value of SR 4.4 billion.
