The first medical evacuation plane has arrived in Riyadh from Baghdad with twelve injured and ill Iraqis that were transferred by the Saudi field hospital which was set-up last week as part of a comprehensive $80 million humanitarian aid package from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
These medical evacuations are expected to reach over 200 individuals in the initial phase. Treatments and care will be given at various hospitals and medical centers throughout Saudi Arabia.
In addition to medical care offered by Saudi Arabia, a telethon ordered by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz to raise funds for the Iraqi people has raised over $11.5 million as of Monday morning. King Fahd himself has donated $2.67 million; Crown Prince Abdullah has donated $1.33 million, and Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector-General Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, donated $800,000. — (menareport.com)
