Snamprogetti, the engineering and main contracting company of Italy’s oil giant Eni, has been awarded a turnkey contract to implement a fourth train for the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the Ras Laffan complex in Qatar.
The plant, to be built on behalf of Ras Laffan Liquefied Gas Company II in joint venture with the Japanese companies Chiyoda and Mitsui & Co. will produce approximately 4.7 million tons of LNG annually. Snamprogetti and its joint venture partners will provide detailed engineering, procurement and construction. The plant has a target date of completion set for 2005.
The new plant will provide additional capacity to the two existing LNG trains which currently produce 6,6 million tons of LNG annually. At the Ras Laffan Complex, Snamprogetti is also implementing the third train with a capacity of 4.7 million tons per year of LNG, as a result of a contract awarded in 2001. — (menareport.com)
