Various travel packages will soon be made available to citizens of the Arabian Gulf states, wishing to visit Switzerland, reported Al-Watan daily.
Many Swiss tourism and travel agencies have recently launched campaigns to attract visitors from the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) states, in an attempt to revive the country’s faltering tourism sector.
Director general of the Tourism Authority in Cran Montana, one of Switzerland’s most famous resorts, rejected the claims that the costs of travel in Switzerland are too high to attract Arab tourists. He added that the prices are quite reasonable compared with other European destinations such as London, Paris and even the Mediterranean Beirut.
Official statistics reveal that Arabian Gulf citizens spent 189,100 nights in Switzerland last year. This figure reflects a 28 percent increase compared with the previous year. — (MENA Report)
