The Sultanate of Oman's Ministry of Oil and Gas, in cooperation with Norway's Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS), have launched the Gulf of Oman Licensing Round 2003, following the completion of an exclusive seismic survey and data reprocessing for blocks 18A, 18B and 41 by PGS.
This three-block license round will open on January 15 and close July 15. In total the blocks cover an area of 45,240 square kilometers. The block sizes are 7,920, 13,520 and 23,800 square kilometers respectively.
The PGS survey comprises of 5,839 line-kilometers with additionally 2,738 line-kilometers of reprocessed data, both available from water depths of 50-3,000 meters. All seismic data will be made available in two data packages, according to a company press release.
Closures are of the order of tens to hundreds of square kilometers and reservoirs are potentially stacked in growth-fault roll-over anticlines and collapsed-crest listric fault blocks. Diapir flanks and flower structures provide additional structural closures. Stratigraphic pinchouts are additionally evident in seismic sections. — (menareport.com)
