The tourism sector [in Jordan] [2] generated $3.5 billion (around JD2.5 billion) in 2012, a 15.3 per cent increase from $3 billion in 2011, according to a statement issued by the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) on Tuesday. [3]
The CBJ attributed the rise to an increase in the number of tourists visiting the country, especially from Arab countries [4]. Income generated by visitors from the Gulf went up by 15.7 per cent and by 47.1 per cent from other Arab countries.
