Statistics recently published by the Saudi stock exchange authority have shown that the value of shares traded on the stock market had grown to SR 50 million in the first nine months of 2000, up from SR 34 million in the corresponding period of the previous year. These figures, reported by Al-Riyadh newspaper, represent a 48 percent rise.
According to the report, the number of shares traded on this market during this period had grown to 424 million, compared to 274 million shares in the corresponding period of the previous year, a 55 percent increment.
Moreover, the number of transactions executed on the Saudi stock market between January and September of 2000 was 399,000. This figure represents a 48 percent increase compared to the 270,000 transactions in the corresponding period of 1999. – (Albawaba-MEBG)
