A recent review of Turkey’s exports to Africa and Asia, published by Anadolu News Agency, revealed that the combined agricultural exports from Turkey to African and Asian countries totaled approximately $16.5 million in the first 11 months of 2000.
Turkey’s agricultural exports to Africa between January and November 2000 were valued at $11,278,000, reflecting a one percent increase compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. During the same period, these exports to Asia totaled $5,141,000. This figure is 28.9 percent greater than during the corresponding months of 1999.
At the top of the list of African countries was Algeria, which received $3,844,000 worth of agricultural exports from Turkey. Among the Asian countries, Iran held first position, with the value of Turkey’s exports to the country reaching $2,358,000 during the period in question. ¯ (Albawaba-MEBG)
