Banque Libano-Française (BLF) distributed 32,000 credit cards last year, 97 percent of which were Visa cards. Visa figures revealed a 55 percent increase in card numbers in Lebanon since last year, the highest growth in the Middle East region
There are now over 300 million cards in circulation throughout the country. Lebanon is one of the fastest growing markets for Visa throughout the Middle East. Latest annual figures for the year ending 31 December 2002 revealed the total number of transactions totaled six million, which represents an increase of 54 percent from the previous year – the second highest growth pattern throughout the Middle East.
