“Regarding my health, I still feel healthy. I eat only healthy food such as olive oil, milk, brown bread, vegetables, fruit, and rabbit meat.”
Al Toum was born in 1889, making him an impressive 125 years old. As a resident of the Gaza Strip , he has witnessed many eras, including the Ottomans, the British colonialists, the Egyptian rule, the Israeli occupation, and now the rule of Hamas.
During World War I, he fought for the Ottoman Empire after being summoned for military service by the Ottomans, he told the Turkish Anatolian news agency.
After the Ottomans were defeated, Al Toum returned to Gaza and married twice. He has four sons and five daughters, with a family that totals 370.
He now spends his days reading the Quran and watching the news, according to the Turkish Anatolian news agency. His advice for a prolonged existence: “don’t trust red meat. ”
