The long documentary film Rescue of Egyptian Cinema Classics directed by the Egyptian American director Sayyed Badriyyah will participate in Washington Festival which is being held nowadays in the American capital, according to the daily al Gomhuria.
The one-hour long film includes rare shots of damaged negative copies of many Egyptian old films and attempts to rescue these films the most prominent of which are the films Laila Bint al Akaber, Mummies and others.
The film also includes interviews with the head of the American Academy for Cinema Sciences “Oscar” in addition to a number of the Egyptian cinema pioneers including, Madiha Yusri, Mustafa Darwish, Mohammed al Qalyoubi, Samir Farid and Zahi Hawwas. All of these talked about the problems, which the Egyptian film faces inside and outside Egypt.
The film, which took many months to be wrapped up, has been nominated to participate in many festivals in more than one American State and for a prize at Washington Festival -- Albawaba.com
