Prominent Egyptian comedian-actor Adel Imam has expressed his extreme anger towards the Egyptian magazine Al Ahram for publishing an article about him entitled “Al Za’eem attacks July Revolution in an Israeli magazine”. Adel stressed that what the Al Ahram published, which is a direct attack against him, is incorrect and misleading and stressed that he is very disappointed that such a well-known magazine would publish nonsense before verifying it.
According to the London based Elaph, the actor also stressed that he never underwent any sort of interviews with an Israeli media source. The chief editor of Al Ahram repeatedly apologized to Adel for the misunderstanding and stressed that he should have called the actor before publishing such an article to make sure the information is correct.
On a different note, Imam has agreed to star in a television drama series to be aired next Ramadan, marking his third experience on the silver screen. Before signing the contract for the drama, Adel placed a set of conditions that he demanded to be met in order to give his final approval. The first condition Adel placed was that scenarist Waheed Kamel is to write the script and prominent director Sharif Arafaeh be given full control of direction. Adel added that the scenes of the drama are to be shot in the story’s actual places away from studios and make belief sets.
Adel is not known to be a television star, but rather he is the master of the cinema and theater. Throughout his career he only starred in two television dramas “Ahlam Al Fata Al Ta’er” and “Dumoo’ Fi Oyoon Wakiha”.
