It is every dad's worst nightmare: 'private' photos of your daughter going public and that's exactly what Egyptian actor, Ahmad Ratib, was facing. The star of play, 'My Beautiful Daughter' [2], told reporters he had received a number of anonymous phone calls asking him for money in exchange for keeping the photos out of the public eye.
Ahmad filed a complaint [3] with the police station in the Egyptian capital, after the calls turned nasty, threatening to expose the alleged photos unless the actor paid 5,000 Egyptian pounds (US $820). Refusing to pay the hush money, the proud father contacted Cairo authorities instead.
The police caught the anonymous trickster this week, who turned out to be a 33 year old homeless man with no links at all to Ahmad's daughter. The fraudster admitted to the blackmail but said he had a partner in crime who police are yet to find.
