Algerian feature film "Yema" by Djamila Sahraoui  won the Silver Stallion at the 23rd Pan-African Film Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) closing ceremony on Saturday (March 2nd).
The top prize went to French-Senegalese director Alain Gomis for his film "Tey" (Today) . "Les Souliers de l'Aid" by Anis Lasoued of Tunisia was named the best short film, while "Meme Pas Mal" by Tunisian director Nadia El Fani won the best documentary award. Moroccan Nabil Ayouch received the best screenplay award for "Les cheveux de dieu." 
More than 100 films from 35 African countries competed at the event, which ran under the theme "African Cinema and Public Policy in Africa".
