Algerian Rai star Cheb Khaled and the Egyptian singer Hakim will perform a concert Friday evening at Metropolis, one of the most important theaters in the Canadian City of Montreal, according to the daily al Ahram.
The Canadian press showed great interest in the Egyptian pop music as well as the Algerian Rai music as it allocated large areas on its pages for dialogues with the Algerian singer Cheb Khaled who resides in France and the Egyptian singer Hakim.
The Rai music began to spread extensively in Canada and the United States following the concerts in which Cheb Khaled participated. The latest concert was in the year 2000, which was performed at the Jazz Music Festival, which is usually held annually in Montreal where thousands of Rai music lovers welcome him by waving flags.
The two singers made a tour in the US including New York where Hakim performed the opening ceremony of Daphos International Economic Conference held last week. Then they headed to Chicago, mid west of the US, then to Detroit, Michigan and then to Los Angeles in California. The tour will continue until the end of this month.
