Egyptian actor Mahmoud Abdul Aziz has singed on to lead director Radwan Kashef’s third film, Al Saher (The Magician), reported AFP.
According to the news agency, the film will begin shooting in Jan 2001, said the director.
Kashef described the film as a “drama about a ‘popular people’s magician’ who works among the ‘forgotten’ population. Those who are drowning in the details of their everyday life,” he explained.
Al Kashef added that the scriptwriter Sami Siyoui “captured the hardships endured by these ‘forgotten people’ through portraying how these Egyptian try to avoid their life by resorting to sarcastic jokes.
Kashef has also chosen actress Salwa Khattab to star alongside Abdul Aziz.
New and upcoming actresses Mona Allah Shalabi will play the role of Aziz’s young daughter.
The production company in charge is South Film for Production and Distribution, in collaboration with the Arab Company for Film and Arts Production.
Kashef’s two earlier films, Leih Ya Banafsaj (Why Lilac) and Arak El Balah (The Sweat of Dates), achieved great returns at the Box Office. – Albawaba.com.
