Dolly Shaheen converts to Islam

The Lebanese artist Dolly Shaheen filed documents in a family court in Alexandria, Egypt, declaring herself officially Muslim. 

The documents will be used in her divorce case against her husband Lebanese businessman Sami Salim Qalib, who is a Maronite Christian.

Dolly said that when she married Sami she was still a Catholic, but now that she is a Muslim the marriage is forbidden.

Dolly tried to file for divorce several times, but Sami refused.

Dolly’s family and friends tried to intervene, but Dolly is determined to get divorced.
