There’s more good news for UAE movie Buffs. The guys behind the Dubai International Film Festival have teamed up with art space The Pavilion Downtown Dubai to start a series of free monthly film screenings from August 27.
The first series, themed “Entertainment Legends”, will include films about musical icons, Diff organisers announced.
Starting with the John Lennon 2009 John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy, followed by Marley, the documentary based on the life of Bob Marley, the programme “will incorporate a variety of genres and appeal to a wide range of audiences” said organisers.
Coming up in September will be a series on Iranian cinema, while October’s programme will have a Halloween-themed selection of films.
Screenings will take place on the last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of each month, with the exception of December where the screenings will take place on December 17, 18 and 19. Entrance to the screenings will be free of charge and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. The Pavilion can accommodate up to 60 people per screening.
