Two rising stars from Syria and Tunisia took lead roles in Moroccan and Egyptian movies participating in the 25th Cairo International Film Festival, according to news agencies.
Syrian artist Lina Murad plays the starring role in the Moroccan film Taif Nizar (Nizar’s Spectrum), directed by Kamal Kamal.
Murad is a graduate of the Damascus Higher Art Institute and debuted with a supporting role in the Syrian film Nasim Al Rooh (Spirit Breeze), directed by Abdel Latif Abdel Hamid.
For her part, Tunisian artist Hind Sabri, who studies law at the University of Tunisia, starred in the Egyptian film Muthakkarat Murahiqah (Adolescent Memoirs), directed by Enas Al Degheidi.
She took the part after her starring role in Samt Al Qusour (Palaces Quietness), directed by Tunisian director Mufidah Al Telatli.
This is the first time in 25 years that two Arab countries have participated in the festival’s official competition with female stars from other Arab countries – Albawaba.com
