The Egyptian Higher Committee for Film Festivals has nominated the movie Ayyam Assadat (Sadat Days) for participation in the Venice Film Festival in September, according to the London based daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.
Attempts are now being made to negotiate with the festival managers to include the film in the official Venice competition.
The film was produced by and stars Ahmed Zaki, and was written by Ahmed Bahjat and directed by Mohammed Khan.
Before it was finished, the film was screened before Cannes Film Festival officials, who refused to let it participate in the official competition, or the parallel unofficial competition.
The committee, headed by the director Tawfiq Saleh, includes Rafiq Assabban, Abdel Hai Adeeb, Tareq Al Shinnawi, Mohammed Kamel Al Qalyoubi, Sayyed Said and Ali Al Ghazouli - Albawaba.com
