The art agenda of The General Organization for Cultural Palaces in Egypt is full of various cultural activities including the honoring of six cinema innovators through organizing a number of film weeks nationwide.
“The film week for the prominent writer Saad Eddin Wahbeh will be organized in the Egyptian City of al Mansourah as of February 11. The week will witness screening a number of films scripted by Wahbeh including Abi Fawq al Shagarah (My Father on the Tree) and Mrati Mudeer A’m (My Wife, General Manger). Also another film week will be organized under the title South in The Egyptian Cinema at Qena Culture Palace next March. A number of films will be screened during the week that tackle the various aspects of life in upper Egypt including al Bustagi (Postman), Shai Min al Khawf (Something From Fear), al Tawq Wa al Eswerah (Necklace and Bracelet) and Araq al Balah (Dates Arrack),” the head of the General Organization for Cultural Palaces, Anas al Faqi told the daily al Ahram.
Faqi added that a film week would also be organized in honor of the Egyptian international director Yousef Shahin at Ismaeliyyah Culture Palace next April. During the week films by the director on art development will be screened including Eben al Nil (Son of Nile), Awdat al Ebn al Dhal (Return of Stray son), al Muhager (Immigrant) and al Akhar (The Other). He confirmed that the plan included the organization of other weeks for other cinema art innovators including Kamal al Sheikh, Atef Salem, Huda Sultan and Ahmed Mazhar -- Albawaba.com
