Egyptian actress Gahada Adel will debut in cinema production with her new film Al Amirah Wa Ana (The Princess and I), in which she performs the role of the late British Princess Diana, according to the Arabic daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.
“I have allocated a hefty budget to produce the film in which I will play the role of the late British Princess Diana,” the young actress told the daily.
The decision to get involved in cinema production reportedly has nothing to do with her husband Magdi Al Hawari, who produced many films for her before, the last of which was the film Esa’f 55 (Rescue 55).
“I was dreaming of this role even before the death of Diana, particularly in view of the similarity between our two personalities. I used to eagerly follow and read about Diana and kept waiting until my husband promised me to produce a film about her life history. One day he surprised me, saying that he was not convinced about the idea, so I made the decision to produce the film at my own expense, despite the big risk and the lack on my part of cinema production experience,” added Adel.
Adel said, “Yaser Galal will be nominated to star in the role of Doudi Al Fayed and Ahmed Wafiq will take the role of Prince Charles,” adding that negotiations were underway with Nader Galal to direct the film – Albawaba.com
