Gulf singers have wrapped up their operetta entitled Khaleej al Kebriaa (Gulf of Pride) to be aired by the gulf satellite channels during the inauguration of the gulf 15th soccer championship, to be launched in the Saudi capital Riyadh on January 16.
The Saudi singers who participate in the operetta include Abdel Majeed Abdulla, Rashed al Majed, Khaled Abdel Rahman and Abbadi al Jawhar. The Kuwait singers include Abdulla Rweished, Abdel Karim Abdel Qader and Mohammed al Blushi while Ali Abdel Sattar and Abdulla Balkheir will represent Qatar and UAE respectively.
“I am delighted to participate in this operetta which symbolizes the strength of unity between the gulf people. This in view of the fact that this operetta will be portrayed on an important occasion, the gulf soccer championship,” Balkheir told the daily al Hayat during his visit to Kuwait for recording purposes.
Rweished told the paper, “I hope the gulf audiences will like the operetta as we as singers made big efforts so that it will be good.”
For his part, Saudi composer Yazeed Khaled who visited Kuwait to oversee the implementation of the operetta said, “this is the first gulf production of its type as far as the size and number of participating singers (24) are concerned.”
“The operetta will be aired live simultaneously with the launch of the Gulf Cup Championship to be hosted in Riyadh,” said Khaled adding that the work will be under the direction of the French director who oversaw the latest world Cup Championship – Albawaba.com
