Egyptian star Hani Salama has come over all religious recently. The self-professed Casonova [2]who hit headlines earlier this year for his controversial role as an unapologetic ladies man in popular film 'Wahad Saheeh' (One Right) is now taking his career in a more devout direction.
After filming wraps on ‘Al Rahib’ (The Priest), Hani is set to play the role of a Muslim preacher in Ramadan 2013 drama ‘Al Daeyah’ (The Preacher).
And Hani isn’t alone – fellow Egyptian actor Ahmed Ezz is following suit with his new religious drama ‘Mawlana’. Whilst the star’s annual 10-day pilgrimage [3] is public knowledge, in the past he has been known to draw a line between his religion and his work.
It seems the tide is turning for Egypt’s rising stars.
