Persia meets Egypt: Iranian Oscar winner to grace Cairo Sufi Bookstore

'A Separation', a stirring portrait of social tensions in today’s Iran plays for a Cairo audience on 7 September

A Separation (2011) [2] has picked up a Golden Globe award for best foreign language film, a Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, and an Oscar for best foreign film at the 2012 Academy Awards.

Written and directed by Asghar Farhadi, the Iranian [3]domestic drama [4]tackles traditions, relationships and divorce in modern-day Iran [5].

Starring Leila Hatami, Peyman Moaadi, Shahab Hosseini, Sareh Bayat, and Sarina Farhadi, the film was a major hit across the globe, earning much respect and shedding light on Iranian cinema.
