Sudanese director Hadi al Edrisi has wrapped up the joint Iraqi Sudanese movie al Bab al Sharqi (Eastern Door) with which the Sudanese TV will participate in Cairo Festival for political Films, according to the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat.
The film was scripted by Noor Hashem and costarring Iraqi and Sudanese artists including Sami Qaftan, Firyal Karim, Abeer Farid, Merriam Haroun, Othman Mohammed, Mujahed Karim and Ahmed Abdel Karim. The film is produced by the Sudanese Filmmakers Union.
It is hoped that al Edrisi will direct another joint Egyptian Sudanese film for the same union.
The film features the Eastern Door area in the Iraqi capital where a large number of Sudanese nationals live. It tackles the life history of a woman who comes from Sudan to search for her husband who lives in Baghdad and works there. The second Gulf War breaks out while the Sudanese woman was searching.
Costarring in the film are Sudanese artists and a number of Sudanese students in Iraq -- Albawaba.com
