The Palestinian Yabous Corporation for Art Production will launch Jerusalem Annual Festival for Culture and Arts under the banner “Freedom Anthems Penetrate Siege” with the participation of many Palestinian and international artists.
The festival will be held at Sultans Toms, some 500 meters from old Jerusalem walls and will begin by a feature to be performed by the Palestinian flute player Suhail Khouri along with Karlamah Troupe which will play 9 music pieces tuned by Khouri. These include “Jerusalem after Midnight” which reflects his bitter experience at the occupation prisons; “Ramallah-Jerusalem and Vice Versa” in which he depicts the long satire and bitter journey which the Palestinians are spurred to carry out through the military humiliating roadblocks of the occupation forces.
The festival will also host for the fourth time artist Simon Shahin from the Galilee along with Qantarah Troupe coming from the USA while the Nazareth Choir Aud al Nidd will perform a show entitled “As I am not Disbeliever” by the Lebanese musician Ziad al Rahabani.
The festival includes shows by the visiting Chilean troupe. Also the South African artist Fouzi Mahlasila has come with Perwad Troupe to show his best artistic masterpieces including his album Silang Mapel. The traditional Farafina Troupe from Burkina Faso and the composer Waldimar Baston from Angola will participate in the festival which will be concluded on July 27 by a musical program by Sheikh Imam produced by the Palestinian National Institute for Music and led by Samir Jobran from Nazareth -- Albawaba.com
