The Jordanian song Daai al Salam (Peace Promoter) won the first prize at the fourth Casablanca Arab Song Festival held during the period between March 21-23.
The song was performed by Rami Shafiq, composed by Amer Mohammed and the lyrics were written by Walid Ibrahim.
A number of Arab singers performed concerts in addition to the festival’s official contest. Singers from Morocco, Egypt, Libya, Jordan, Algeria, Iraq, Tunisia and Palestine participatee in the festival.
The event also honored the Egyptian artist Huda Sultan, Tunisian artist Zuhaira Salem and chief Moroccan musician Bu Baker al Talibi.
The festival’s feature was performed by Zuhaira Salem and Adnan al Shawashi from Tunisia, A’laa Abdel Khaleq from Egypt, Majd al Qasem from Syria, Omar al Abdullat from Jordan and Raed Mahmoud from Palestine. Also Libabah Bint al Midah from Mauritania, Ghitah Bint Abdel Salam from Morocco, Hamid Shukri, Huda Amna, Jannat Mahid and Ibrahim Barakat participated in the feature.
The program included a conference on the Arabic song documentation and an exhibition for the Arabic song documents.
The festival’s jury was comprised of poets and music composers including Ahmed al Tayyeb La’laj, Abdel A’ti Amna, al Arabi al Kawakbi and Abdel Hamid bin Ibrahim from Morocco in addition to Mohammed Dia from Egypt, Taleb al Farghouli from Iraq, Yousef al Ayyadi from Jordan and Ali Abbas from Palestine -- Albawaba.com
