While mega star Iraqi singer Kathem El Saher is getting ready to finalize his upcoming album, the singer finds himself frustrated by the fact that he has not been able to locate the heirs to the famous legionary poet Ahmad Shawqi. He needs the relatives’ consent to use a Shawqi poem as the lyrics of one of his songs.
According to Al Ittihad newspaper, Saher, who was an ardent fan of the late love poet Nizar Qabani, is now utilizing the talents of Egyptian poet Abdul Rahman Al Abnoudi.
Meanwhile, the UAE publication said that Saher will be singing one of Abnoudi’s poems next summer.
The poet is known for his collaboration with legendary singers such as Abdul Halim Hafez.
However, all is not well with the singer.
Saher believes that a poem by poet Ahmad Shawqi would be extremely popular in the Arab arts world. He, however, refuses to name the poem he is interested in fearing competition.
Friends are encouraging the singer to put ads in newspapers and magazines in order to find the necessary heirs to the poem. – Albawaba.com.
