Rumors circulating in the entertainment world claim that prominent Egyptian actor Laila Elwi is considering resigning from her acting career, after facing numerous problems.
Laila has been avoiding the media, refusing to hold any interviews or make any public appearances. She has also turned down all new offers she has received for different roles. She is currently filming the final scenes of her upcoming television drama "Nour El Sabah" (Morning Light).
The actor has been nominated for a leading role in the new film "Al Ahramat Biloun Al Mafia" (The Pyramids in the Color of the Mafia), a joint Egyptian - Swedish production, alongside internationally well-known star John Paltro.
The film revolves around the destruction of historical monuments in Egypt, and the life of a woman played by Laila, who comes to Egypt seeking the remains of her lost lover who died during WWII. It is unclear if she will accept h role.
Another problem Laila encountered was a fire that broke out in her apartment the day after the Dubai Film Festival, in which she participated. The fire broke out in the bedroom of her apartment, and there were no casualties reported.
Once the news reached the Laila, she revealed that only fate saved her from being caught in the fire, especially since she was due back in Egypt at that time. She was not able to find flight reservations and was forced to postpone her return, she explained.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
