The International Festival for Laughing which is the first of its kind in the Middle East, will be opened Wednesday in Beirut with the participation of comedians from 40 countries.
The event will be held under the banner “24 days of continuous laughing”, in a square that contains 7,000 spectators.
Caricaturists, acrobatics teams and theatrical troupes will participate in the festival. The caricaturists will sit in the square drawing the spectators’ faces in a funny manner.
Egypt will take part in the event with the play Ana wa Kahyoun Kisebna al Million (I and Kahyoun won the million) starring the two comedy stars Sayyed Zayyan and Wahid Seif.
The festival will include three programs daily: the first one for children, the second for adults and contains short comic shows accompanied with narrators who tell funny stories and jokes and the program of dancing for youth.
The coordinator of the festival, Lebanese actor Wajih Saqer, told the Egyptian daily al Ahram, “the idea of the festival was born to bring the laughter back to the Lebanese who suffer hard economic and living conditions, as well as the results of the civil war – Albawaba.com
