Tensions rose high at a press conference held by Lebanese singer Majida El Roumi in Tunisia. While we all surely love her, looks like maybe she's not so popular in Tunis!
The songstress found herself in the hot seat as journalists fired controversial questions at her left, right and center.
They were oh-so-interested in her past and in particular the honorary award she had once accepted from ousted Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. 'Honorary award' and 'ousted President' all in one sentence doesn't sound too innocent!
Majida remained calm and collected but fired back at them by clarifying that the award was presented to her on behalf of the Tunisian people, not exclusively from the President himself.
She added that she has no regrets accepting the award, which was in fact prepared by the Tunisian Ministry of Culture. Yes, get it right people!
Among the one million and one questions asked about the region's political status, Majida was also quizzed and criticized for placing flowers on controversial leader Chakri Belaid's grave . Being the diplomat that she is, Majida said that she wanted to honor the lives of all Tunisian martyrs. She's one classy lady, didn't you know?
