Syrian actor Maksim Khalil got the attention of avid viewers around the Arab world through his recent role in the Lebanese drama “Ruby ” alongside Lebanese actress Cyrine Abdlnour . The drama has spelt success from the offing, and for Maksim it meant earning such hyper recognition through a television drama. Maksim’s performance got noticed by more than just the average TV addict. Egyptian directors, producers and industry insiders, besides fellow actors and viewers, tuned into the drama. Maksim said that that his participation in the drama was unique in introducing him to epic TV dramas that span more than the usual 30-34 episodes.
He added that he was very fortunate to play the leading role alongside Cyrine and Lebanese actor Amir Kararah. Despite his success in the dubbed Turkish drama ‘Nour’ years ago, as the voice behind the leading (link to heartthrob Muhannad article) popular Turkish actor Muhannad, Kivanc Taltitug, Maksim insisted that he had no intention of repeating such an experience.
When it comes to the prospect of longer running sagas like “Ruby” and the Syrian drama “Matloob Rijal” (Men, Wanted) replacing Turkish dramas, Maksim kept his statement neutral, offering that ‘We always hope that the work we put out is of the highest standards and attracts a wide range of audience as is the case with dubbed Turkish drama.”
