The prominent Lebanese singer and musician Marcel Khalifa will kick off Jordan’s Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts 2002 to be held during the period between July 24 - August 10, according the daily al Bayan.
At his single concert, Khalifa is expected to perform a number of his patriotic songs, particularly the ones on the Palestinian Intifada, “in line with the general situation in the Arab World as a result of the Palestinians’ suffering under the Israeli occupation,” the head of the festival, Jeryes Samawi, told the daily.
The 21st session of the event will also host Syrian singer Samih Shqeir who is known in the Arab popular circles for his patriotic songs, as well as the Egyptian renowned singer Mohammed Munir. Each of the two singers will perform two concerts.
The event will also include a number of concerts performed by other Arab singers, as well as a number of poetry features and plays will be staged within the framework of the event.
However, the festival was devoted last year to the Palestinian Intifada – Albawaba.com
