Syrian prominent singer Mayada Al Hinawi described her rivalry Syrian singer Asalah Nasri as being extremely jealous of her to the point of complication. Mayada stressed that Asalah’s jealousy is similar to that some women have towards each other over things they wished they have but do not.
According to the London based daily, Al Hayat, Mayada’s comments came in reply to statements made by Asalah on a TV program saying that she advises Mayada to resign because she is outdated. Mayada had also revealed that at a point in time Algerian singer Warda was also jealous of her, but she differentiated Warda’s jealousy as being a typical one and not to the point of complication as Asalah’s.
Previously, Mayada suddenly announced that she will back out of the Second Arab Music Festival taking place in Egypt, after she had previously agreed with the organizers of the festival on participating. Mayada’s sudden decision came as a major inconvenient to the organizers of the event after they had publicly announced at a press conference that Mayada will be present.
The two singers have been in a verbal war since January, when a heated dispute erupted after Asalah publicly described Mayada as an old woman last year won a live TV interview, and said that Mayada has reached such an old age and was outdated.
Mayada became furious and attacked Asalah saying she has no respect for anyone and in turn does not deserve to be respected. Asalah tried to explain to Mayada that she did not mean what she said in the manner it was interpreted, but Mayada refused to accept any excuse from her. Mayadah also refused to accept Asalah’s apology saying that she does not deserve to be forgiven after her rude comments.
Recently, Mayada suddenly announced that she would back out of the Second Arab Music Festival, which took place in Egypt, after she had previously agreed with the organizers of the festival on participating. Mayada’s sudden decision came as a major inconvenient to the organizers of the event after they had publicly announced at a press conference that Mayada will be present.
Dr. Ratiba Al Hanafi, one of the main organizers of the festival, said that she and Mayada had come to an agreement earlier and she had faxed the contract to be signed and returned, but was shocked when she received a phone call from Mayadah’s business manager telling her that the singer has made new demands and will not take part in the festival unless they are met. Mayada had demanded that she be paid a wage of 30 thousand Egyptian pounds, which is impossible to be met by the festival especially since it has a budget set for all the singers and this price was out of the question for them. Before that, Nasri had decided to pull out of the Arab Musical Festival, after learning that her foe Mayada would be present.
Once Asalah realized that Mayada will be at the festival she demanded such a high wage from the officials, who are organizing the event, not including the wage of her band. Asalah insisted on her stance and being paid such a high price hinting her desire to pull out and apologize for being unable to take part in the festival.
Mayada has once again returned to the music scenes and released a new album, which features six new songs. The singer had decided that the time is now right for her to release her new album after being away for such a long period of time.
Mayada stressed that the main reason behind her long absence is mainly due to the fact that she feels the music world has lost the essence of good music and the overcrowding of so many new singers to the scenes has caused her to step back not wanting to be compared to anyone who is called a singer simply because they hold a microphone. –Albawaba.com
