Disney fans in the capital can expect a spectacle of their favourite Disney characters in a musical performance that is set to take place from February 26 to March 2 at du Forum in Yas Island .
Disney Live; Mickey’s Music Festival will bring together more than 25 Disney characters for the music mash-up, which marks the first ever Disney performance in the UAE , organisers revealed on Tuesday.
The characters include Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald Duck, Aladdin, Jasmine, The Little Mermaid, Woody, and Buzz Lightyear, among others.
Attendees can expect classical Disney music mixed with modern hits as the performance features songs from blockbuster movies remixed with rock, pop, reggae, hip-hop, jazz, and country tunes.
Of course, it would not be a Disney production without favourites such as A Whole New World from Aladdin, Under the Sea and Kiss the Girl from The Little Mermaid, which are set to delight audiences.
“This is a show for the entire family and we expect mums and dads to be on their feet with their children dancing to this well-crafted selection of chart-topping hits mixed with their favourite Disney classics,” said Ali Haidary, founder and CEO of Sport and Entertainment Solutions, one of the organisers.
The performance begins with audiences watching a state-of-the-art video projection of the frenzy backstage, which spills onto the stage as Mickey Mouse welcomes guests to his concert tour. Audiences will then be taken to a world of acrobatics, dance, and music with characters from Aladdin, and The Little Mermaid.
Toy Story characters will then put on a boogie rodeo-style performance.
Horacio Renna, vice-president for Europe, Middle East, and Africa at Feld Entertainment, the producers of the show, said the show will be an interactive one in which audiences can perform on stage with the characters.
“As a parent, Disney represents a great opportunity to spend time with children and interact with the characters. One of the most special things about the show is that you can meet the characters and there are only two chances to do that; either at the [Disney] parks across the world, or at the Abu Dhabi show,” Renna told tabloid!.
The production is the sixth incarnation of Disney Live! since its creation in 2004. It recently completed a tour of Turkey and Cyprus, and organisers said the performance next month will be the first in a series of Disney productions in the UAE over the coming years.
At an audience capacity of around 2,100 people per show, organisers expect a total of 20,000 people from the UAE and the Gulf region to attend.
With a total of seven shows, tickets go on sale on Friday, January 10, at ticketmaster.ae and Virgin Megastores. Early bird tickets start from Dh125, and remain on sale untill 22 January. Regular tickets are priced at Dh150 (bronze), Dh250 (silver), Dh375 (gold) and Dh1,000 (VIP).
