Director Adel A'sar nominated Egyptian actress Muna Shalabi for the leading role in his upcoming movie “Malikat Jamal” (Beauty Queen) after a fierce competition between numerous actresses to take the part. The movie is based on the latest Miss Lebanon beauty contest organized by the Lebanese satellite channel LBC.
The director will be using several scenes from the actual scenes of the contest, which was also a reality television program, according to London based daily, Al-Sharq Al-Awsat. The story revolves around an ambitious, simple but beautiful girl called Fatima who her life turns upside down after being chosen as Miss Egypt.
The male leading part is for the Egyptian actor Ahmad Izz, also costarring Khaled Abu Al-Naga and Wahid Saif. The filming is due to start after Muna finishes shooting the scenes for her current movie “Inta 3omri” with director Khaled Yousef.
Egyptian actress Hanan Turk has denied circulating rumors that a dispute broke out between her and Muna during the filming of "Ahla Al Awkat" (The Best of Times). Hanan stressed that the rumor is completely untrue and this is the second film in which no disputes occur between her and a cast member, the first being Sahar AL Laiali. Hanan revealed that she and Muna are close friends and no problems occurred between them throughout the film. The film features three lead actresses, who are also good friends in real life. Egyptian actresses Hanan, Muna Shalabi, and Tunisian actress Hind Sabri costar alongside one another in the film.
Shalabi stressed that she does not mind taking part in works that require her to be in some ways seductive especially if the scene implies it. She added that many Egyptian actresses had done these roles before and yet were not accused to be indecent. Muna concluded that she was very convincing when taking part in such roles that people began to believe it was her nature.
Muna revealed that she is capable of performing any role given to her, stressing her strong talent for acting. The actress noted that she has come a long way of making a name for herself in the cinema and on TV, a matter which led to many producers and directors to seek her out and present her with numerous offers for different acting jobs. –Albawaba.com
