After the recent commotion over the film “Ahlam Umrina” (Our Life’s Dreams) between young Egyptian actors Muna Zaki and Mustafa Shabban, along with the film makers, Muna has decided to form her own new production.
According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, Muna and co-founders, actors Salwa Khatab and Intisar, have pledged that their new company will support rising actors and present new ideas to Egyptian cinema.
The first film the company will produce, starting next year, is “Bakoureh Attieh” (Attieh’s Collection), written by renowned novelist Khairi Shalbi.
Muna and actor Ahmad Al Sakka have been reunited after a three-year separation, in the new film “An Al Ishq wal Hawa” (About Love and Romance), directed by Kamelah Abu Thikri.
“About Love and Romance” is a fated love story set to the backdrop of a romantic musical score.
The film costars Muna Shalabi and Ghada Abdul Rizik. Singer Angham was also nominated to take part in the film, but declined the role at the last minute due to her pregnancy.
Filming is scheduled to begin in the upcoming days on location in Cairo, Aswan, and Alexandria.
The last film Muna and Ahmad appeared in together was the tremendously successful “Mafia,” which gave a new meaning to Egyptian films.
