Egyptian actress Najlaa Fathi is gearing up to shoot her new film Qanoon Sukkar (Sugar Law), in which she experiments with an alternative lifestyle.
The film is about an Egyptian woman who marries a foreign diplomat. After the death of her husband, however, she fails to secure citizenship and the rights of her children. Desperate, she undergoes a sex-change operation in order to secure citizenship, which is easier to obtain for men.
According to the Egyptian daily Al Gomhuria, Fathi is enthusiastic about the film, but has discovered a dispute between the story and scriptwriters which has been referred to the Cinema Association - Albawaba.com
