The Lebanon International
University LIU has granted prominent Lebanese singer Ragheb Alama with an
Honorary PHD, marking the first time such a step is taken by the university.

The decision was based on the fact
that the singer is noted for always being active in performing good deeds like
taking part in different relief programs, fighting for the right to educate and
other humane causes.
The PHD was presented to Ragheb by
the former Lebanese Minister of Culture Abd Al Raheem Murad.
According to the London based
Elaph, Ragheb considered such a step by the university as one of the highlights
of his life and he is much honored to be chosen and recognized. He also
considered the degree as more important than any musical award he had every
received and is very grateful for everyone who made it happen.
