Lebanese singer Ragheb Alama has sent an official letter to the Sudanese President, Omar Al Bashir, clearing his name of all false allegations against him regarding the rumor that he had insulted Sudanese females by referring to them as the ugliest women in the world. The singer stressed that the news of his insulting women and refusing to sing in Sudan are mere lies and done by foolish people who only want to ruin his reputation. The singer added that he has actual proof that he did not make such remarks from the recorded tapes of the television interview he held.
According to the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, Ragheb requested from the Sudanese President that he prosecutes the paper that created the chaos and wrote such demeaning lies. The Sudanese "Al Dar" daily had published in one of its papers that Ragheb had called all Sudanese females ugly and caused chaos and anger among all Sudanese females. Another Sudanese paper "Al Khartoum" held a personal interview with Ragheb to get a public statement from him and frankly stated that he had made no such remark and added that Sudanese women are a symbol of purity and dignity and he would never insult them in any way.
Ragheb revealed that he is seriously of filing a lawsuit against the "Al Dar" paper for publishing such false news and ruining his image in front of his Sudanese fans. Ragheb added that he intends on holding a series of concerts in Sudan to prove to the journalist, who wrote the lies about him, that he never made such remarks. Ragheb added that he sees the journalist that wrote such lies as a traitor to all Arab nations, because he is attempting to cause hatred among them and by writing such lies he is creating problems between people.
Ragheb called on the Sudanese President, Omar Al Bashir, to demand an investigation to get to the source that wrote the lies about him and prosecute him for ruining his image in front of his Sudanese brothers and sisters.
Rumors had it that Alama sparked extreme anger among Sudanese people especially females with his latest public comments about his opinion of Sudanese women. During an interview on one of the Arab satellite channels, Ragheb was asked whom he thought are the most beautiful women in the world. It was added that Ragheb immediately answered that he thought Lebanese women are the most beautiful and added that Sudanese women to him are the ugliest. Ragheb's comments angered and hurt Sudanese women, who thought that such remarks are uncivil and give the singer a bad reputation. On their part, Sudanese women described the singer as being shallow not knowing when to stay quiet and does not think when he is talking.
In reply to the rumors Ragheb announced that he is currently looking for a Sudanese woman to take part in his upcoming music video. The singer stressed that he wants to prove to everyone that he made no such remarks. –Albawaba.com
