Lebanese singer Najwa Karam revealed that she had requested her production company Rotana to postpone the release of her latest music video for the song “Shu Jani”, which is a single, due to the recent tragic events that hit Lebanon with the assassination of former Lebanese PM Rafiq Al Hariri. Najwa added that the company had refused to postpone the release of the clip, which is directed by Saeed Al Marouq, due to the fact that her upcoming album is scheduled to be launched during the summer season and that would create a conflict and negatively affect the success of the single.
The music video, which was to be released during February, is now being aired on Rotana's music satellite channel. The singer had stressed that it would be insensitive of her to release the clip when everyone in Lebanon is in mourning over the loss of Al Hariri.
According to the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, Najwa has expressed her deep sadness over the situation that clouds over Lebanon hoping that her country will get through the trauma it experienced. She added that Lebanese do not deserve to live in fear and insecurity and hopes that there will be major changes to ensure the safety of all its citizens.
On a different note, Najwa is also preparing to shoot two more new music videos from her upcoming album, which is scheduled for release this coming May. Recently, the Music Production Company Rotana has suggested to its newest added member renowned Saudi singer Mohamad Abdo the idea of singing a duet with Najwa. Mohammad has given his initial acceptance to the idea on the conditions that he looks over the words of the song, in addition to composing it. Abdo also requests to look over all other the details concerning the new project.
